BUT WHILE WE SEEK COMFORT AND SHELTER IN THESE ALTERNATIVE WORLDS, WE OFTEN NEGLECT OUR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL WELL-BEING IN THE REAL WORLD.
CHANGED BY STRANGERS IS A FASHION COLLECTION THAT ADDRESSES THIS ISSUE. THE LOOKS ARE DESIGNED FOR THE HUMAN BODY, BUT AS THEY PROGRESS, THE SILHOUETTE BECOMES MORE ALIEN, SUGGESTING THAT THE INDIVIDUAL HAS BEEN "CHANGED BY STRANGERS."
THE COLLECTION IS BASED ON THE IDEA OF A PERSON SEEKING SHELTER AND ESCAPING INTO THE WORLD OF ESCAPISM, BUT EVENTUALLY FINDING THAT AN ALTERNATE REALITY OFFERS MORE COMFORT AND LESS WORRY. THESE ILLUSORY WORLDS CAN TAKE MANY FORMS, SUCH AS VIDEO GAMES, SOCIAL MEDIA OR EVEN DRUGS.
THE BEGINNING OF THE PROCESS IS ILLUSTRATED BY TIGHT-FITTING AND LIGHT LAYERS. THESE SHAPES REPRESENT THE BODY AND CREATE A SENSE OF DISTANCE AND LOSS OF REALITY. WHEN THE PERSONA IS TAKEN OVER BY THE ALIEN, THE INFLUENCE BECOMES MORE VOLUMINOUS AND PARTIALLY OR COMPLETELY COVERS THE BODY, BLURRING THE BOUNDARIES BETWEEN HUMAN AND ALIEN. THESE WIDE AND NARROW SHAPES ARE MEANT TO EVOKE THE FEELING OF PROTECTION AND PRESERVE THE FRAGILE QUALITY OF ESCAPISM.
THE COLLECTION ALSO USES ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, SPECIFICALLY DALL-E, WHICH GENERATES IMAGE SOURCES TAILORED TO THE INSPIRATION OF THE COLLECTION. EACH IMAGE IS UNIQUE AND RANDOMLY REGENERATED, CREATING A FITTING REFLECTION OF OUR WORLD FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF A COMPUTER PROGRAM.
